What does BAYC stand for?

Bored Ape Yacht Club

In the digital art world, BAYC stands for Bored Ape Yacht Club. It’s a series of unique NFTs, short for non-fungible tokens, designed by Yuga Labs. Each of the 10,000 NFTs features a one-of-a-kind image of a cartoon ape. These NFTs have become absurdly popular, with folks ready to shell out big bucks to own one.

Yuga Labs introduced the BAYC series in April 2021. Remarkably, within just half a day, all the apes had found new homes. Nowadays, you can see these bored apes appearing on your screen thanks to famous personalities like rapper Snoop Dogg, talk show host Jimmy Fallon, and pop star Madonna, who proudly display their apes in music videos, on TV, and over social media platforms.

Not wanting to stop the momentum, Yuga Labs launched a second series in August 2021 called the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC). This new series was mostly offered to those lucky enough to have snagged a bored ape from the original collection.
