Girl Dinner

What does Girl Dinner mean?

A meal similar to a charcuterie board

On TikTok, the term “girl dinner” is often used to talk about a quick meal, typically thrown together by a woman from whatever she has in her fridge, freezer, or pantry. A girl dinner might include foods like bread, cheese, fruits, nuts, and pickled veggies, often presented on a plate or charcuterie board.

The phrase was first used by a TikToker named @jessiepaege in May 2023, while she was drawing a comparison between her ideal dinner and a meal typical of a medieval peasant. She showed her followers her dinner of bread, grapes, cheese, and pickles, and called it her girl dinner.

Soon, other users, mostly women, began using the term to describe their own quick and easy meals. These food-focused videos led to discussions about whether a “typical” girl dinner was nutritionally adequate. The trend also sparked a similar trend known as the “boy dinner”.
