Invisible Step

What does Invisible Step mean?

A dance move where you act like you’re stepping on a step that isn’t there

Invisible Step is a dance move that gives the illusion of stepping on and over an imaginary step. It started gaining attention around 2014, but really took off when a video featuring a cheerleader named Sierra Johnson performing the move went viral in 2017.

In executing this move, the dancer pretends to touch an invisible step before raising one foot as if to step onto it. They then push off with the other foot to make it look like they’re stepping over the imaginary step.

Of course, there is no actual step. The dancer must possess the strength and control to make it seem like they’re stepping on a real step. It requires a good amount of practice to perfect this illusion.

This move can be incorporated into an actual dance routine, or performed just for fun to impress others. The Invisible Step is also referred to as the invisible box in some circles.
