What does JMHO stand for?

Just my humble opinion

When you see JMHO popping up in a text, chat, or social media comment, it’s a sign that someone is sharing their perspective without wanting to come across as too pushy or forceful. It stands for “just my humble opinion.”

But, don’t be fooled! JMHO isn’t a clear gauge of how strongly someone feels about their viewpoint. Someone might use it even when they have a pretty strong stand on a topic, simply to make their opinion sound less imposing.

On the flip side, someone might drop JMHO to show they don’t really care what you do with their opinion. They’re just throwing it out there, and you can take it or leave it.

If you’re unsure about the person’s reaction should you disagree with their JMHO, it’s a good idea to feel them out first. Maybe ask a question that gently hints at your own viewpoint without outright telling them they’re off the mark.

Example for using ‘JMHO’ in a conversation

Hey, have you seen the new movie that everyone’s talking about?

Yeah, I have! JMHO, but I thought it was kind of boring. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Oh, really? I actually loved it! What didn’t you like about it?

Well, JMHO, but I felt like the plot was predictable and the acting was mediocre. πŸ˜•
