What does Rec mean in Fantasy Football?

In the world of football, and particularly in Fantasy Football, ‘Rec’ is a term you’ll often come across. It stands for receptions, which is a statistic that counts how many times a player catches the ball from the quarterback (QB).

While this abbreviation applies to running backs (RBs), tight ends (TEs), and full backs (FBs) who can all receive a pass from the QB, it’s most commonly associated with wide receivers (WRs). These WRs are often the ones making the most ‘rec’ in a game.

In the sphere of Fantasy Football, different leagues like PPR leagues even award points based on the number of ‘rec’ a WR or RB makes. So, it’s not just about the number of catches, it’s also about the points these catches bring to the team in the league.

Example for using ‘Rec’ in a conversation

Hey, did you see the game last night?

Yeah, I did! Did you see that insane catch by the wide receiver?
