What does Sloshed mean?

If someone is sloshed, they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This means they’re not thinking straight and their physical abilities might be affected.

The term sloshed came about in the 1940s. Originally, it was used to describe the playful splashing of water. But over time, it was used to describe the state of being drunk, as if the alcohol was sloshing around in one’s stomach.

Nowadays, it’s a term young people, especially teenagers and young adults, use to talk about being drunk. They might use it in person or online. For instance, a group of students could be chatting about how sloshed their friend John got at the party the previous night.
