What does Yarr mean?

Pirate sound when angry: Yarr

‘Yarr’ is a shout old-school pirates used to express their feelings, often when they were angry. Today, it’s used by gamers and others chatting online to sound pirate-like, especially during exciting moments.

For instance, a Dota 2 player about to attack might type “YARR, me crew!!” in the heat of the moment. Alternatively, someone in a chat might use ‘yarr’ to show that they agree with you.

But don’t think ‘yarr’ always means agreement. A capitalised YARR could just as easily mean “no” as “yes,” based on the situation it’s used in. So always pay attention to the context!
