CDR

What does CDR mean in League of Legends?

Cooldown reduction

When playing the popular game League of Legends (LoL), you might come across the term ‘CDR’. This stands for cooldown reduction. It’s linked to items and abilities that lower the cooldowns (cd) of a champion, item, or spell. This means they can be used more often.

Think of it like this: an item like Archangel’s Staff gives 10% CDR. This means your champion can use their ult and other abilities 10% faster than before. It’s a handy advantage when you’re in the heat of battle.

But don’t get confused if you see the term ‘ability haste’ instead of CDR. They’re actually the same thing. Riot Games, the creators of LoL, decided to change the name from cooldown reduction to ability haste in version 10.23 of the game.

Example for using ‘CDR’ in a conversation

Hey, did you see that play in the game last night?

Yeah, it was amazing! The champion’s ult came back so quickly.

I know, right? That’s because of CDR.

CDR? What’s that?

It stands for cooldown reduction. Basically, it makes abilities and spells ready to use again faster.

Oh, I get it now. So, it helps you use your abilities more frequently.
