Loot

What does Loot mean in Gaming?

Treasure

Imagine being a pirate or a gamer. What’s the one thing they both crave? Loot! So, what’s loot in the gaming world? It’s all the goodies like treasure, weapons, armor, and other precious things that players get from treasure chests, crates, or enemies in games.

The interesting part is, loot “drops” are usually semi-random. This means different players might end up with different loot even if they complete the same mission or defeat the same enemy. But, there are some quests, bosses, or crates that give out the same loot every time. It’s mostly because that loot might be required to complete a later part of the game.

And guess what? Gamers also use the term ‘loot’ as a verb. For instance, a Fortnite squad leader might tell his team to “loot the bodies” after taking down a bunch of enemies. In this situation, the squad leader is asking his team to search the dead enemies for items. Because, you never know what loot you might find, right?

Example for using ‘Loot’ in a conversation

I know, right? I can’t wait to find all the treasure chests.
