HSIK is an acronym that stands for “how should I know.” You’ll usually receive it when someone has no clue about the answer to the question you’ve just asked them. It’s their way of telling you that they’re just as lost as you are.
It’s common to see HSIK used on its own, like a standalone response to a baffling question (“HSIK?!?”).
But sometimes, you might also see it at the beginning of a sentence. In this case, HSIK often leads into an explanation of why the person couldn’t possibly know the answer to your question. They’re essentially saying, “How should I know? Here’s why I don’t…”
