Sigma

What does Sigma mean?

Sigma male

A Sigma, also known as a sigma male, is someone who prefers to be on their own and doesn’t care about fitting into traditional male social structures. They do their own thing, not because they want to be cool or impress others, but simply because that’s what they want to do.

Those who are overly concerned with social standing, like incels or high school guys with inflated egos, tend to see sigma males as the epitome of coolness. They believe that the sigma’s introverted, disciplined, and antisocial behavior is the ideal that all men should strive for.

Interestingly, there are people who call themselves sigmas on the internet, but they do it with the intention of appearing cool to others. This contradicts the true nature of a sigma, which implies that they don’t care about others’ perceptions.

Because of this contradiction, and the fact that genuine sigmas can often come across as arrogant or unsociable, they are frequently mocked on social media and online forums. This mockery is similar to how self-proclaimed alpha males are treated online.

Example for using ‘Sigma’ in a conversation

Hey, have you heard about the term ‘Sigma’?

Yeah, I know what it means! It’s a type of male who doesn’t care about fitting into social hierarchies.

Exactly! They do their own thing without worrying about what others think.

Some people think sigmas are really cool because they’re independent and don’t seek validation.
