Out of mana
If you hear a player in an MMORPG or MOBA game say they’re OOM, it implies that they’re “out of mana.” Games such as Dota 2 or Heroes of the Storm are where you’re most likely to hear this term.
Mana, also denoted as MP, is a kind of energy that game characters have and utilize to execute special powers like AoE assaults, reviving charms, buffs, and debuffs. Each character has a limited amount of mana, which replenishes over time but can run out if the character rapidly uses a lot of abilities.
Therefore, a player might become OOM at a bad time, for instance, when you require a reviving charm or a key final blow on an enemy player. Players who are OOM can still carry out basic attacks and use abilities that don’t need mana. But, if you’re depending on a player who is OOM to trigger their ultimate move or to heal you, you’re stuck.
Example for using ‘OOM’ in a conversation
Hey, can you heal me? I’m so low on health!
Sorry, I’m OOM. Can’t use any healing spells right now. π
