Line of sight
LoS, or “line of sight”, is a common term used by gamers. This term is most often seen in first-person shooter (FPS) games where players need to establish LoS to target their enemies.
LoS is not only limited to FPS games, it’s also found in MMORPGs and MOBAs. Here, players often talk about abilities that require LoS to either an enemy or a teammate.
For instance, in many MMORPGs, a character who is a healer needs to establish LoS to a teammate to be able to cast a healing spell on them. Similarly, certain abilities may demand that a player maintains LoS with the target to keep the ability going, such as a debuff ability based on LoS.
Example for using ‘LOS’ in a conversation
Hey, did you see that epic headshot I got in the game?
Yeah, it was awesome! How did you manage to hit him from that far?
I had a clear LOS on him, so I took the shot.
Nice! LOS definitely gives you an advantage in FPS games.
